David Stern, Principal

David has helped more than 200 small- and mid-sized firms manage their finances more effectively. A Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP®), his passion for this work began with a job at a salvage yard that bought and sold reusable building materials. There, he learned that a business can turn a profit and do meaningful work, the basis for his career ever since.

He focused on the construction industry because as he says, “I like the tangible product that contractors make. They take great pride in it, and you feel good playing a role to help make it happen.”

Thomas Buckley, Financial Analyst

Thomas’s twenty-year corporate career includes serving as the European Controller for the Controls Group of Johnson Controls, which operated construction jobs across Europe and the Middle East. He has worked at Westinghouse, spent several years as a draftsman at an architectural firm, and been involved with an array of building projects.

Thomas earned an MBA in Finance at the University of New Mexico. In 2003 he moved back to New Mexico, where he has worked providing financial consulting services to a construction design firm as well as consulting in the non-profit sector.


Hallie BAUER, Executive Assistant

Hallie brings over 17 years of office and operations management experience to her role as Executive Assistant for David Stern CFO, Inc., providing assistance with managing schedules, databases, and special projects. She is an Ethics Check™ certified member of the International Virtual Assistants Association.

Prior to her work as a Virtual Assistant and Online Operations Manager, Hallie managed operations for a luxury yacht construction and sales dealership with 5 locations across the Southeast, was a licensed Real Estate Agent in Alabama, and Office Manager/Assistant to the CEO of a real estate development company.
