Dispatch #60 - What a Year! Praise for Business as a Constructive Force

Today I want to wish you the very best during this holiday season. Whether it’s religious or purely secular, I hope you get a chance to rest, reflect, and replenish as we turn the calendar from 2020 to 2021.

This year has demanded a lot from us personally and as business people, for our local communities and our nation, and for all peoples around the world.

There are serious dynamics—economic, pandemic, and political—that we carry forward from this year to next, and it’s sometimes difficult to know our role in the face of such enormity. At times, I find it helpful to remember that the daily practice of a well-run business is a powerful, constructive (no pun intended!) force.

When we bring a sense of modesty to our business endeavors, when we deliver a valuable service, and when we treat all stakeholders with respect and dignity, we contribute to the whole, give back to our communities, and provide individuals an opportunity for personal and financial self-improvement.

Best wishes this holiday season, and I look forward to continuing our work together in the new year.
